Ever break a tractor chaining it down ?

As I chain my tractors down to head to various shows or occasions, I often wonder if I could over tighten a chain and
break a tractor (broken draw bar.......broken axle.......broken frame......etc). Wondering how strong a tractor is
as you "stretch" it to hold it to the deck of a trailer.

Just curious......

I have hauled a lot of tractors, from N Fords and JD LAs through 644 JD loaders, and have never broken one from tightening a chain binder. I realize that older ones may be more fragile, due to age, but if you're not using a 4 foot cheater, you shouldn't break anything, unless it was about due to fail anyway.

We use 3 foot cheater and never broke anything yet and dad has been hauling for 30 plus years, have blown out a few tires though. Better to tie it down tight and take a chance at breaking something than to leave it loose and the thing come unhooked and shake off the trailer and break who knows what. Or at least that's how I look at it.

It would about have to be a harbor freight or Kubota or something a long those to break from tightening a chain to tie it down

The one I saw was still on a trailer at a tractor show parking lot. Unstyled John Deere B on steel. I didn't get to talk to anybody, nobody was around it when I was there.

The tractor would have to be already cracked somewhere to break it with a chain or someone attaching a chain somewhere they shouldn't.

He never mentioned breaking them but Old used to have them start up while towing if he left them in gear. many many times.
