Transport Trailer Inc 1954 Cedar Rapids IA

I have a 1954 Transport trailer (Cedar Rapids, Ia. Division), I just bought. I had to re-due all the bushing and seals and now I
need to replace a wheel hub. This is the old 6 spoke and stamped on it, is #6273. Any clue to where i can find one. Appreciate any
help you can give.

I have a transport trailer just like yours, same year. I think I got a new hub from Midwest wheel in Des Moines, Iowa. Get the number off the hub and call them. It has been several years since I bought it but worth a try.

Google ,Mutual Wheel .they are in the Midwest. Heavy tuck and trailer parts.

I called them first, they had no luck finding anything. By chance could you tell me what your wheel hub # is that you got form them. My bearing combo is Timken #567 outer #528 Inner, not sure if yours are the same.

I will have to see what the number is on my hubs, wouldn't have a clue on the bearings as it was a while ago and at the time I changed all the hubs over to oil type seals.

I went out to shed to look for part no. There was so much dust and dirt I couldn't find a number. My hub looks just like yours through. The model no. of my trailer is GPX-24, serial No.is 5934 and manufacturing date is 10-54. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, John

Do you need hub and drum or just drum. The drum bolts on to hub so if you just need drum might find something that would work. My trailer has 8.25 by 15 inch tires if yours takes a bigger tire hub might not be the same. John

If you take it into any good truck parts place with the bearings and race numbers they should be able to match it up for you. This would be a good time to start converting it over to hub piloted wheels or Budd wheels. Those 6 legged hubs are harder to get straight than the 5 legs are. What is the matter with your old hub? Looks good to me. And they seldom go bad. The drum will separate from the hub if the drum is worn out. Put Stemco oil seals in. They will out last anything on the market and cost is the same. Yup they take a installation tool and some places will loan you one or you can make one out of a piece of pipe and plate steel. Use the Grit guardian seals.
I've used all of the seals over the last 20 or more years and the rest are junk last a couple or 3 years the Stemco will be there when you have replaced a couple or three of the others.
I have no dog in the fight for those seals, except The years of use.
