Trailer wheels an hubs

I once herd some thing like on the old trailer house axles that u could buy hubs to replace the like star looking wheels with a newer hub and wheels then you can have the wheels balance. On my boys trailer one of his brake shows hung up this week end and its been a long time that he replace every thing in them shoes, magnets, and wires. I told him it time for a new trailer but he wants to keep this one going because it was grampas. Im thinking that he should at least up date them wheels and hubs if he can. Thanks.

I?ve changed mobile home hubs out on two trailers over the years, easy to do...

Thanks for the help on this. I told him that by changing them then we can also have the wheels balance right now some were hopping on it and the shop he gos to for tires cant balance the old style.

The company I?ve bought from had different options, I?ve bought the 5x5.5 Ford hubs just because I had Ford wheels laying around and I?ve bought 6 lug Chevy hubs too because I had some Chevy wheels to use. They also sell 8 lug hubs as well. It adds up by the time you buy the hubs and wheels plus tires if you don?t already have some to put on the trailer...

You need to contact R & P Carriages, Seneca IL.
They?re great folks and will have what you need with great advice.

They don't know what they are doing for balancing then. With a spin balancer it can be done right on the hub. They put it against the wheel and spin it then adjust. Or you can do it yourself just jack it up spin it let it stop then mark the bottom. Spin again and see if it stops the same if so then ad weight to top and repeat. Heaviest side will go to the bottom if the wheel spins freely.
