truck tires

been thinking about some new tires here lately

I have heard pro and con of the kumho ht51 tires

Anyone on here running these tires

I have a 5500 and need heavy rubber but was not at all satisfied with continentals

They may cost more but they never road well

Any input here would be appreciated

I did miss the tire size as that was the freightliners but the 5500 is 225/70r19.5

I put firestone 14 ply on the front here while back and made a world of difference but they were a bit pricey and I was told that the kumho was as good but didnt know nothing about them

I was hoping to contact someone that has used them in an app instead of a salesman with a toyota

Ran a set of Kumho's on the front of my semi years ago, rode good but wore badly, i'm sure they make better tires today.
My F-450 had Hankook DH01's when I got it, had to rotate the front's often to keep them from dipping but the ride was ok for a short stiff sidewall.
Not a Michelin fan but have a set of XZE steers on the front that ride good and show not signs of wear at 20k miles.

Cooper Roadmaster RM253 runs about the same price as Kumho's
Probably won't wear as long as a solid shouldered tire but looks like they would have good snow traction and better off road traction than a solid shouldered tire.
I have Dunlop SP461's on the rear, decent traction but that tread pattern doesn't wear well.
When they need replaced I think I'll try a set of Cooper's.

Interesting note: My 2018 F-150 came with Hankook tires

FYI all of the Kumho's I looked at for your size where 12 ply.

Larry I sold those tires for 22 years. Firestone are a good choice. I ran Kuhmoe all seasons on my pickup and liked them. If you are running Kuhmoe get the heaviest ply rating.

Just put a set of those on my 2500 in the all terrain
version, had been running cooper discoverer at?s
and were not happy with the mileage out of them

I have some of the RM253 on my F350.
(Custom wheels) Great traction, so far
they wear like iron. But squirm to make
you think all heck broke loose. For rears
only they would be great, but I wouldn't
put them on a 4wd again.

20,000-25,000. The courser ct, which is a rougher tread that the at2 .Tire nearly 30,000. Not highway truck either.

I just took a set of about 8 year Discoverer HT3 off my truck that didn't look bad but were wearing uneven and picking up vibration along with weather checking. Tire shop said it appeared that the previous owner never rotated the tires. The new Discoverer HT3 has a little bit different tread design. Top photo old tire bottom new tire.
