Old is NEW again!

Actually the USA is an oil/energy exporter these days this will help us use more home based energy.(LOL) I'm waiting waiting for them to bring back the 534 motors we had them in concrete
mixers back in the day they'd pass anything else on a mountain.

Is it just me or does it look like a warmed over gas conversion from the old 7.3 diesel IH made for them? That would account for the overhead valve engine.

The 6.9 that was replaced by the 7.3, was born out of the 404/446 IH gas motors. So I have read anyways. That would make the statement "old is new again" true.

I can't believe they haven't brought out an Ecoboost version v-8 for the super duty's. That would make an awesome gas engine, but likely put too much of a squeeze on the Diesel. The only thing I don't like about gas engines is no turbo to compensate for altitude. The v-6 Ecoboost is not far under the diesel now, a v-8 would really make a nice truck.

Barnyard Sure why not. No not really. Just if you look at a chevy engine, then a ford then, a chrysler all in V-8's. They all have their own looks and features that set themselves apart from each other. This picture just looks a lot like the old 7.3 engine. Yes the ohv engines look pretty much alike from that stand point.

This engine is going to replace the triton v10. I like the 1995 7.5 (460) no cats or oxygen sensors and 3" single straight through exhaust system and no coil packs.

I drove a 79 L800 single axle fuel truck with a 534 gas engine. It was as fancy as you could get it. Chrome wheel covers , dual 3 inch exhaust. Replaced it with a electronic 466 IHC 250 hp. The International wouldn?t out pull it anywhere. It will be a whale of a. Motor if it will outpull my 6.2 gas F250.

The company I worked for had 2 L800s with 3208 cats and they replaced them with IH DT466. When they first brought them out of shop they were gutless. They wouldn't pull a loaded trailer out of a pit dock. They took them back in shop and changed gear ratio in rear end and after that they would out run the 3208s.

Because the Ecoboost design is nowhere near durable enough to withstand the work load of a HD truck. The numbers are impressive yes, but its only intended for a truck that is worked hard infrequently. In fact of all the ecoboost trucks I see I rarely see one towing anything.
A true HD gas truck engine can be worked hard every day for the whole life of the truck. Compared to performance engines they produce far less power because they are intended to survive long term abuse.
The failure rate of a HD truck with an ecoboost would be high.
