Bw gooseneck in 2004 gmc

I just ordered my b&w gooseneck hitch for my 2004 gmc 2500. I will only use it at most four times a year.

How hard are they to install?
Is there any drilling in the frame?
Should I install myself or pay the local installer $250?
Thanks

If you?ve got an extra 250$ I?d pay to have it put in . If you have a nice place to work and put it in you could do it yourself . When it comes to automotive work I carefully weigh my options. Do I have the money to pay someone to do the job ? Is there someone I can trust to do the job right if I do pay to have it done ? And 3 I remember how bad I hate doing work on automotive but I also hate paying 90$ an hour to have some kid screw up and me have to do the job again anyway . That?s my rant probably won?t help you much I guess

I?ve had two installed, a B&W in my 01 and a Curt in my 09. In both cases, I had the dealer I bought the hitch from install it. Glad I did, and both hitches have held up very well to regular use of heavy loads.

I?ve installed them in both of my F-350?s, it?s not hard, my 95 took about 3 hours taking my time, the 08 dually took about 6 because someone
got cocky and didn?t read the instructions word for word. They provide probably the most detailed installation book out there, works flawlessly
if followed to the letter. At one time the instructions could be viewed online, that will answer most questions. It?s just me, but I?d hate to pay $250
and then they take it in the back and let a couple of kids install it.

Not worth $250 IMO. Theres one hole to drill, in the bed. They’re designed to bolt right up. Hardest part is working under the truck and getting dirt in your face. About the only way you can mess it up is if you forget to tighten all the nuts.

I did my own installation in my 2001 Chevy. There are no holes to drill in the frame, but you do need to cut a hole in the bed, and it needs to be correct. I previously had arranged for the dealer that sold the hitch to do the installation, but due to unforeseen circumstances he could not do it when scheduled.

Also, the instructions for the hitch recommend removing the bed first. I did not do that, but it may have been easier if I had.

I put one on our 2006 chevy 3500. About three hours. I lifted only the corner of the bed a small amount and it was easy. Drill the bed hole were they tell and it works.
