I priced a 250 foot roll while I was at
Menards today.
Anyone know why - besides the usual
'Inflation'?
What is scrap copper is going for these
days?
I don't follow that market.
Ouch

That price appears to be for a 1000 foot spool. I bought 250 feet a few months ago - I don't want to dig the ticket out, but I think it was tickling $250 per 250' roll at that time. I remember when you could buy a 250' roll of 12-2wg for $22. Then it seemed to hover in the $40 range for a few years.

I believe I got 3.55 a pound for bare bright a few weeks ago. Had a pretty good haul of 500MCM, it was a very good day.

No, but I sold some AL cans, only got .35 a pound! Then I bought 3 pieces of square tubing that I could carry in one hand, that was about $25, including the $2 per cut. I also bought 3- 20 foot 1/2 rebar, they were only $8 each, not too bad.

100ft is $97. Makes the 250 ft a bargain at $114.

The price has been in this ballpark for a couple years now. At least 2x4 studs are down to $3.

With interest rates skyrocketing construction is way down so the material prices are coming down as well. Somewhat good when you have some construction projects around the homestead to do.

Friend is an electrician, told me he was buying material at Runnings and it was cheaper than his distributor. He was talking about conduit but indicated that everything was cheaper.

Interest rates aren't that high, prime is 8.25 now, just getting back up to where it pays to have money in a bank. When we bought a new home in 1982 it was 14.6%, thank goodness we didn't need a loan!

They are over prices plus it's for a 1000' roll. Most places around here are between 80 and 90 for 250' roll. During the crazy spell it got up to over 150.00 for a 250' roll. Before then the normal price was closer to 75. Stores started putting the wire in locked cases instead of on open store shelves to prevent theft. My local lumber company said people would pick up a roll of wire and walk out into the lumber yard and throw the roll over the fence. Then come back for it later.
