Im repairing a gas tank and need to know how to remove the previous JB Weld patch. Will heat remove it or is a grinder the best option?

Is the tank or plastic? If metal I wouldn't grind on it. If plastic my experience is JB doesn't work real good

Best would be to use a blending disc. , not a Grinding disc. It will do a good job and not grind the metal away.

I, 2nd that. plastic-NO. metal, esp, aluminum - very good.. For plastic, use fiber glass
epoxy.

The fact that a JB weld repair has to be redone tells its own story. My gas tank repair with JB weld was good for two years and then gave out. I used Permatex gas tank repair the next time and it's a permanent success.

If it is a steel tank, wire brush on an angle grinder.
Works very good.

JB Weld makes a special fuel tank repair product. I have used it with with more success than the regular JB Weld.
