Echo SRM 2100 straight shaft trimmer

I need to replace the C1U carb as the original will not return to idle for several seconds and trimmer no longer starts even after cleaning.
The problem is I can't find the old gaskets I removed so I don't know how they {it} compared to the new.
Was I sent the wrong gaskets or am I missing something?
The top gasket in the picture matches the carb and the bottom gasket matches the end of the grove in the center of the isolator block. But each blocks the other when used together.
I am totally confused.
And the weeds keep getting higher....
Does someone have an answer?
Thanks

I will try to help without selling you goats or telling you how great a battery trimmer works for me.

First you need to know your trimmers serial number. For they're two or three different gasket kits that fit the carb.

Stay away from places like Amazon or eBay to buy parts. You have an Echo. Buy Echo OEM parts.

Parts Tree is a good place to start.

Search Echo String Trimmers and then by the serial number. You will know that you are getting the correct parts then.

That little hole in the gasket is for the Pulse taken from the crank case. That is what operates your fuel pump diaphram. As long as the little hole matches up with the little hole in the carb or that little groove, you should be fine. Then your pulse will operate. As the piston of the 2 stroke goes up and down it creates a vacuumpressure pulse which operates the fuel pump. Sort of a push pull operation.

slowpoke,

The top gasket is the only one you need from the picture.

There are some variations, that's why you got more then one.

Use just the top one and it should work,

Guido.

May not be the case. You need the serial number to get the correct part.
Most Echo trimmers have a spacer block and needs a gasket that fits both the carb and spacer.

O.K.
I am assuming the bottom picture is the carburetor side of the adapter plate. Notice the curved groove in it that goes around so if the correct carburetor gasket was used to accomodate the pulse hole in the carburetor, it should work. So use the upper gasket in the top picture.
You also need a good gasket between the adapter plate and the cylinder.

I always change the fuel lines and filter as well. You don't want old crud coming up the fuel line into the new carburetor.

I went to the local repair shop and bought a gasket as pictured for 95 cents plus a new gas tank grommet for $1.95.
Tomorrow, I expect it to work like new....
