My neighbor brought this old DeWalt hammer drill. 4 batteries, and the charger.

All the batteries DOA. I managed to put together on battery pack for him.

Pack the gear box, and clean the brushes, and end bell bushing and shaft.

He said it sounds much better now when he picked it up last month,

Guido.

Muir Hill 101,

I just stopped what I was doing, this is my busiest time of the year, just to get him going. I gave my 14V DeWalt to my grandson. H e will need it, as he bought a house.

Anyhow! Thanks for the vote of confidence. Sometimes is not practical even at my prices, FREE,

Guido.

I have some oks batteries I need to send in and have done . I ended up with a dewalt impact and 5 good batteries but Id still like to her the other one going . How do you Check to see if a cell is bad

Muir hill,

Take the top off the battery. Some have security screws. Heat and remove cell covers to expose the cell contact.

Using a bolt meter at the lower setting, chech their voltages.

Each cell should be at least one volt, if not that is the replacement threshold

Guido.

Mukr-hill,

Most likely yes. Usually a pack that NOT been abused will take a charge.

But ALL the cells neddy to do so.
Think of it as a chain, one link off and no continuity end to end.

Also, the pack would come up to fuul capacity if charged @ a slow charge rate, 1/4 amp or so.

There is a reason for that. Anyhow I'll stop here for now,

Guido.
