Battery terminal puller

Another reason I converted to the 31's with the bolt top. you just unscrew the nut and lift them off the stud. works so much better than those stupid lead or copper clamps that bubba has to tighten till the ends meet. Then wonders why they don't stay tight the next time he puts them on.

Youre supposed to stop tightening when the clamp is tight not until the ends meet but eventually they will meet after so many years being in service

Gee, another tool I don't have and have never needed. With a gloved hand I grab the clamp and try twisting side-to-side and the clamp usually comes off in a few seconds.

I think mine is a KD, a major investment 30 years ago. For the JDs with the battery box under the platform almost a necessity.

Try that on some I have had you would be replacing the battery as you would pull the post loose inside the battery case. And I have 2 different types but have not had to use for a couple of years as now only have truck to drive. And pullers will not work on these cables.

Duro-Chrome (aka Indestro) made a couple oddball battery terminal pullers, one having a forged handle connected to a pivoting claw that slid between the terminal underside and the top of the battery case. The other used a similar claw, with a jacking screw onstead of the forged handle. Those were the most effective terminal pullers I've ever used.

The jackscrew-flavor, Indestro-branded one I bought in the late 1970s sprouted wings and flew away in the mid '90s, and I'd replace it it if they were still available.

Oh well, it probably wouldn't work nearly as well on today's stamped sheetmetal clamps as it did on the old cast lead ones.

I have twisted a few posts loose In my day thats why I was wondering about pullers . With the price of batteries the thought of screwing up one doesnt seem like a good idea

Best puller is shaped like letter C, bottom slides under cable top part has threaded bolt with a washer that pushes down on post. Does not damage post or cable.

You would never twist cables I have had to remove. If they are only tight
enough to be able to twist they were not tight enough for good contact.
