Try to build a base for it as physically heavy as possible. The weight will cut down on vibration.

Looks like a good start, Larry!

When you get the frame tubes cleaned up, give them a good coat of automotive paste wax. It'll keep the rust away and make the power head slide much easier. I clean and wax mine about once a year and they still look like new for the most part.

Larry,
When you pick up your terramite, you can pick up a Craftsman jig saw. I bought it at a yard sale for $10. It needed a motor. I spent $20 for 4 wheels.
I don't use it. My kids don't want it.

I have a 10 inch x 36 inch Atlas lathe.
I think it's 75 years old.
It's both a metal and wood lathe.
I have the attachment to make a bowl. No desire to make bowls.
I use the lathe to make parts I can't buy. I don't use it much. Extremely handy when I need to make something.

I find using the metal cutting bit works better for turning a doll rod a special diameter.

I look forward to seeing bowls and other things made with that.
I got to get my old cast iron Craftsman lathe out and work on it.

My Father bought a Shopsmith back in the 50's. I have some of his turnings. We had to move and no room for the machine. It was a fun wood lathe. I may have the old face plate. Can look for it when warmer weather gets here. Enjoy your new machine , but be careful. joe
