The sharper point (lower angle degree) is for soft materials, the harder the material, the flatter the angle (higher degree).

If you have a lot of work in tough material then a set of 135 bits is a good investment. However for any general shop usage 118 has been the standard for good reason. Since I hand grind I actually go in between for the bits used in the machine tools. Bits used in hand held drills are best at 118 or less.
