I ran across the close out pages on Harbor Freight this week. Automatic compressor drain for $10.00. It goes into the sensor line on the switch and down to the drain on the tank. You can check them out on Youtube.

tried one out years ago and it ended up rusted shut from the crap in the tank bottom... I just do it manually

The down fall of any auto drain is the rust and trash getting in them from the tank.

What I do is install a ball valve at the tank, then a fine screen Y strainer, then the auto drain. The strainer protects the auto drain, the ball valve can be turned off to service the strainer, and the straight through design of the ball valve allows it to be opened and rodded out should the need arise.

I put one on my new air compressor nearly 15 years ago. Wouldnt be without it. My air compressor it not easily accessible, so a Ball valve would not get used enough. Has worked perfectly for the whole time. Opens for a few seconds every hour.
