Unlabeled Brake Cleaner

Bought a few cans of Brake Cleaner, Super Tech in the silver can with the black and red logo at Walmarts, didn't look closely when I bought it. When I got home and went to put it away I noticed it was NOT labeled as either Chlorinated or Non-Chlorinated. This is important due to the more extreme toxicity of Chlorinated brake cleaner especially if it is heated or the part is welded on after being sprayed. Now comes the real problem searched the internet and have been unable to come up with an email or contact for either Walmart or Super Tech. It was my impression that all brake cleaner had to be labeled as Chlorinated or Non-Chlorinated. If anyone has contact information for either Super Tech or Walmart I would appreciate if you would share it.
Thank you,
Bill

They show two kinds online.

One in a three piece can and the other is a one piece can.

Both proudly labeled as non chlorinated.

Not uncommon for product pictures to not be up to date tho.

Looks like if it has Perchloroethylene (Perc), Methylene Chloride (MeCl), or Trichloroethylene (TCE), in the ingredients it is a chlorinated product.

And non chlorinated if it has
acetone, heptane, isopropyl alcohol, and other low-toxicity petroleum hydrocarbons, such as mineral spirits or toluene.

The store you bought it at would be able to get you a copy of the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that would have the info you need. The seller (Wal-Mart) is required to provide these upon request.

If the UPC code is 0538806539 it is the stuff I have been using for several years now. It is not chlorinated. It is virtually the same as their carburetor cleaner, just a bigger can and cheaper. I use it for carb cleaner, starting fluid, and all sorts of cleaning. Not just brakes. Has methanol, acetone, and toluene. Ingredients are on the label. Very flammable. The chlorinated kind is not flammable, it will put out a fire (remember the fire extinguishers with carbon tetrachloride?) but will produce toxic fumes if exposed to heat, so don't do the experiment indoors:)

Are you sure it's "BRAKE Parts Cleaner" or just "Parts Cleaner?"

The Walmart website shows only blue cans of brake parts cleaner. The silver cans are simply labeled "Parts Cleaner, All Purpose."

Parts Cleaner, All Purpose. NOT Brake Parts Cleaner:

Yes it definitely is brake cleaner. WM2417 UPC 6 05388 06539 1 If you key either of these numbers it brings up the blue can. One web site can't remember which indicated that this is the new Super Tech Brake Cleaner and supersedes the blue can. Top black logo says Super Tech, Red label below black label states Brake Parts Cleaner. Black info on can states contains Acetone, Toluene and Methanol.
