Can anyone tell me the manufacturer of this mower motor? It is an old Craftsman dating to the 70's and the clips on the gas tank which hold it to the pull
cord housing have broken. I wonder if I can even get a new tank? Thanks, Ellis

I agree, looks like a Tecumseh. Does the tank slide into a couple of slots in the fan shroud?

Thanks to all for the info. I have several mowers of course, 48 inch cut stuff but this one can sit all winter and start on the 1st pull. Great for trimming. Ellis

I don't have any more of those tanks. But I bet if you ask around in your area, somebody has a junk engine with a good tank on it.

Yes looks just like the 4 stroke on my Lawn Boy self propelled. And my tank flops around in the mounts.

Tecumseh LEV series engine.

Very common Tecumseh engine. Could be between 4 and 6.5 HP. If its a Craftsman. Most likely a 4.5. Lawn Boy made what was known as a square deck (no off set wheel) and it could be one of those rebadged as a craftsman.
