This belonged to my FIL. Im glad I was able to bring it home and keep it safe for another generation or two. Dave

Looks like a railroad track jack. I have two, one is 15 ton I think. Can be handy in certain situations but take a strong back to handle.

Very nice. I just picked up a Simplex A5 with a broken pawl spring, and am in the process of trying to source one. Harder than it seems as many places either don't sell to individuals or have a minimum order far in excess of the price of a spring. One note of caution--many of these jacks have a quick release mechanism, which is fine for their intended use of lifting track, which is then supported and the jack released, but can be disconcerting or even dangerous when used for other purposes.

es Sir....just like many tools, a man needs to know how to use. Can be a finger masher, too.

I'm surprised someone didn't bring that up sooner, recently there was a thread about Hi-lift jacks, and someone called them a windowmaker! Any tool like that creates stored energy, and they're not for amateurs', but a very useful tool for skilled users.

Very nice ! They are great as long as you know how to use them ! Here is a pic of one of mine . I have 2 and a smaller one also. Rated at 15 ton.
