Auction Find,

5 H. P. flat head B&S $130 plus the usual fees. I drained the old gas, drained the extra oil, then put in about 1/2 teaspoon gas in the carburetor. It fired right up on the first pull, and no smoke.

Will have to see how she does under load,

Guido.

Guido, good deal.
When my old engine died on my wood splitter years ago, I called an old friend that ran a small engine repair place forever.
He had an old 8 HP Briggs and Stratton flathead for $150 and I was at his place in 15 minutes.
Cranks on second pull after choking it on the first pull.
Can sit for months and fires right up.

My buddy has one on his spitter too. Probably can split rocks with it. Just as easy starting as yours,

Guido.

Guido, I have used my splitter to shape metal several times.
When I built this wagon, I had 3 large wheels and one smaller one.
I cut the spokes on one large one and then used the splitter to reshape the outside rim down to the smaller size.
Then cut the spokes and welded the rim back on.
I was concerned that it might not turn true.
It turns better than the other small one with no wobble.
I got lucky.

I Like that wagon. That engine should bent metal like a press.

Guido.

RICHARD G,

After a few hours of operation 25 or so, the head gasket will take a set. Rechecking the torque is not really necessary, but I know that if you check the torque the bolt will snap a bit and turn a bit more on the same settings as the original torque.

Just the nature of the head gasket. Like a said not really necessary. It's an extra step I take when I work on small engines, all of them,

Guido.
