Another Computer Problem,

Mine is long been fixed with a fire stick. LG smart (STUPID) tv prompt was: Wi Fi disconnected, turn the Wi fi on REALLY? NO WAY to turn it on!!!

The fire stick worked as soon as I typed in the network password, and with much better picture resolution.

Here is the kicker, a few weeks later I tried the tv internet and it worked. Ever since then it's a hit and miss....go figure!

So what I am saying is if you wait a few days the LG smart tv may go back to play smart again but, your mileage may vary,

Guido.

Double07

Wi Fi same as the fire stick. On and off on and of now. no internet OR it's turned
off. Next day? all is well...

For my chromebook to work, I need WiFi.
At places I can't get WiFi, I use my smartphone, mobile hotspot.

My mobile hotspot also works on a Firestick.

This may or may not have anything to do with your problem but after I installed a Nighthawk Range Extender parked right next to my Sony Smart TV my ROKU stick works like perfect never drops out.. How is your signal strength near the TV ??

Hello John T,

Like I said problem solved with the fire stick, and many more apps to choose from.

Fire stick with 4k capability fixed the problem
My internet connection is not the greatest,
But I can stream 3 devices when all the planets are lined up just right

I am sure at times a signal booster would come in handy. 95% of the time all is well, the other 5% I am talking to the stupid box.

Today is stupid, fire stick is streaming with no issues,

Guido.

Here is another possibility.
I have a FireTV by Toshiba. It is a ''smart'' TV with the firestick built in. At one point, it started acting really strangely. it would turn itself on or off at random times, change from one video to another for no apparent reason, and icons would appear or disappear at will.

I started looking for customer support telephone numbers, and ended up talking to Toshiba customer support. It seems they are constantly updating the software in the TV over the internet without my knowledge. Well, now I know. I told the customer service rep that YOU broke it, now YOU can fix it! He took me through a whole bunch of button pushing and strange rituals, and told me that it would now reset and work properly. It did for the most part. One quirk I found is that if I turn it off from a broadcast station that I was watching from the antenna, it will lose the mute and volume level icons the next time I turn it on. Then, I have to go to the home screen, turn it off, wait, and then turn it back on to get the icons back.

Overall, since it is MY TV, I wish they would just leave it alone! Why fix what isn't broken? Eh?

Jimg.allentown,

Yes to all. You are not alone. From volume settings to video settings. It's my TV,. Leave it alone X2.

Did you ever get the chicken scratches at the left of the screens? That was the pinnacle of insults

Some it turn back to normal. I feel you frustration...,

Had a WiFi dropout problem on my Acer laptop several years ago. Found a note to check WiFi security setting. It was low level. Changed to WPA 2-Personal and have had no problems since. As I recall I made the change in the Router settings.

A lot of this sounds like el-cheapo TVs to me.

Funny how people would spend several hundred dollars to buy a television to get three channels back in the day, but balk at spending over $100 on a modern TV that puts the world at your fingertips.

I'm about fed up with the cheap POS TV at my parents' place. $98 TV. Sounds like a tin can by itself so you have to buy the soundbar accessory. Well the soundbar accessory even though it's made by the same company doesn't integrate with the cheap TV so you have to carry around 2 remotes.

barnyard engineering,

Not my first rodeo. I opted to (repair) it,
by simply installing a fire stick.

This 65 TV was NOT cheap, and hanging on the
wall.

What goes bad is the modem, and the
connections the ribbon makes between the
modem and the mother board.

I am sure the land of almost right does
not hold dip the ribbon connections.

A picture for you. The modem and maybe a
clear shot of the connecting ribbon?

Also a picture of the prompt,

Guido.

This was long ago (before my days on YT), but there was a time when we had to go to town (an hour drive) in order to get access to free wifi. There was ZERO internet in our neck of the woods. I had ended up buying a kinda large USB antenna for the laptop to plug into. But that wasn't enough. I also had to plug in a small networking dongle from Amazon that guaranteed 150Mbps. Yeah, right! But still, it worked. Over the years I have been in hotels where the laptop just couldn't connect, then plug in the little dongle and presto, I can finally select WPA-2 and add a password (if necessary), etc. Yes, technology CAN be infuriating!!

kcm.MN,

First laptop I bought was a 486 pentium.
That was actually a 386 with math co
processor. 14.4 kb modem?

That's a few years back. The dongle is the
key in your case.

I am on a wpa-2 with a 15 to 20 character
password. My fire stick is awesome. More
apps that I will ever need, and 4k
capabilities.

There is a show on now that is so sharp, I
can almost count the blades of grass,

Guido
