OT: Diagnostic code P0001

The service engine light is on, and Code reader says P0001: Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open, on my '97 Chevy C1500 4.3l, WT. Only thing I can find has to do with diesels and fuel pressure regulators. Truck has an in-tank pump which I just replaced, still in the driveway.
There is information about something behind the throttle body, but I see no loose wires or anything else amiss.
Any help appreciated,
Slowpoke

It is electrical. ECM is not getting info. Did you connect ALL the harnesses after replacing the fuel pump? Im guessing you had to drop the tank. Did you accidentally yank some wires that were still connected when you were bringing it down? Could have damaged the connection inside the connector without fully pulling the wire out of the clip. Your '97 C1500 4.3 doesn't have a fuel volume regular control circuit nor does the 'puter have any way of knowing what the fuel pressure is or the condition of the fuel pump or the wiring to it, so you can quit looking there,at least for now.

You are either misreading the code or the scan tool is not functioning properly, as sometimes happens with consumer-grade units (IF that's what you are using) you will either need to try a different scan tool or have a pro check it out.

You are definitely beating a dead horse pursuing the code you posted.

This is the second C1500 where I replaced the fuel pump by cutting an access hole above it. I tried removing the bolts to lift the bed but access to the bolt up under the spring perch is limited to using a 1/2 ratchet and I'm not strong enough to turn it laying on my back.
The old pump was 54psi; the new one is 60 psi.
The original complaint at the test station was random misfire so I replaced the distributor and pump.
Now the check engine light is on with a P0001 code. I'm using a CEN-TECH OBDll/EOBD+ABS for diagnostics. Not quite a $4000 SnapOn.

You sure it has the right computer in it? I'd be comparing the VIN the ECM has programmed to the VIN on the truck. You would be surprised what will halfway run with the wrong VIN in the computer. I've seen it more than once. All '97s used the same computer, just programmed to know what it's in.
