1/2 Dewalt vs 1/2 Milwaukee drill.

I made a gizmo to spin out weeds from flower beds and I don't have to bend over.
I started with 20v brushless Dewalt

The weeds would stop the drill in first gear.

The 18v Milwaukee drill and the old 18v Dewalt drill would twist your wrist if I weren't careful.
I know the 18v Dewalt has brushes.
It looks like the 18v Milwaukee has brushes too.

I my opinion brushes are the WINNER when I comes to twisting torque.

I hope that works out for you.
My wrists started hurting just thinking about it.
I have injured myself too many times with a drill.
But if it saves your back, then that is great.

Richard,
It works. And yes the drill has jumped out of my hands a few times.
I can adjust the torque limiter on all the drills.

I posted this to show how little torque a brushless motor has vs a motor with brushes..

The milwaukee drill is a smaller 2 speed version and not a hammer drill. The 3 speed milwaukee may be a hammer drill, which I need occasionally. Both dewalts are hammer drills.

I'm rather disappointed with the brushless dewalt.

Not that big of a deal to replace brushes on my old 18v dewalt drill. Don't have to take the drill apart, just remove the cover over the brushes. easy job.

Geo,

THAT is why the XRP comes with a help handle. It will twist you into a pretzel,

Guido.

Guido,
I forgot about the handle. It's in my truck tool box.
Better put it on the drill.

My dewalt 12 inch chainsaw has a lack of starting torque.
If the chain is resting on a log, it won't start.

I'm not impressed with brushless tools.

Geo,

Yea! put that handle on. I am not impressed with the brushless tools either.
I worked on a chainsaw with a 14 bar a few months back. I thought it was ok, but the owner says it draws so much amps it cuts out.

I may get it back and see if the battery packs are ok, probably are though. Could be the charger too. I'll post back if I find the issue,

Guido.

When I was shopping for a new cordless drill 20 some years ago I researched different makes and DeWalt had the highest torque. That's how I got started with them.

My 18 v 3 speed hammer dewalt is more than 20 years old.
It has brushes and a ton of torque. 20v dewalt is new and a wimp when it comes to torque..
