It might sound odd,,but I Watched a lot of you tube videos ,about small wood shops

Took some of the tips,,and made a point to follow them

I have noticed a big difference in my hobby time ,this year,,after I Rearanged the little spoon shop,,and got the dustopper hooked up to the shop vac

the hose can slip on to the bandsaw,,and reaches the sander when I need it
cvphoto114185.jpg

the shop is very small

One of the tips was,,have a place for everything,,,and put everything in its place
When you keep doing that,,it becomes second nature after a while,,and cleanup each day is really fast

Also,,when working on the bench,,its just as easy to hang a tool back up as you are working,,then leave it laying,,,because,,if you keep laying stuff on the bench in a small shop,,youll have no room to work

the stuff you use most often ,,should be easy acess,,,and easy to put back,,if you need it again during the project,,,you know where it is,,instead of fummbling around looking for it
Idont use the table saw much,,but when I need it,,I roll it out from the corner
cvphoto114187.jpg
that gives more room for the shop area

the little harbor freight sanders get put onto the bench,,when needed,,and the vacuum hose slipped on

the most often used hand tools are right beneath the bench

And the best tip of all was to clean up when done,,put everything back in its place,,so when you start again,,its pleasurable

These are tips that worked for me,,and made my hobby work much more fun

Your results may vary,,,,lol,,its just something I Did grab from woodworkers,,on you tube videos

Reminds me of the shop the pastor of our old church built!

He got into hobby wood working, started out with a storage shed in the back yard, out grew it, added on another room, then another, and another...

Each addition was a little lower budget, a little smaller, a little shorter!

I guess he knew his way around in there, but I couldn't make it 2 steps without banging my head or tripping over something! LOL

I knew a guy that had a little shed for a workshop but made some great things. He started out as a pattern maker in a foundry. He could look at a picture and carve what he saw. One thing he did was the Budweiser wagon and Clydesdales from a poster.

I use my attached 2 car unheated garage for a winter time wood shop. 4x8 foot plywood table for my router sled, a table saw, power miter saw, normal tool boxes and a plastic table, there's room to move around but it does get cramped at times. I've gotten in the habit of putting the tools back where they belong when done w/that task, sweeping the garage floor as to not track in wood chips and dust. This last item keeps the wife happy(smile).

Have fun, Don

Sawdust is redneck oil dry.
2x25x25 air filter attached to box fans collect the fine saw dust.

Hard to collect sawdust created when making dovetails.
You can see what my redneck dust collectors got.
Then I take the dust collector outside and remove the

sawdust with a leaf blower.
Dewalt planner has a built in fan to exhaust wood chips. I took a 4 inch aluminum flex duct and blows the chips into the black plastic barrel. The fine dust exhausts from the metal pipe out the window.

Can't have too many shop vacs. One for table saw and another to trim saw. I took a 4x4 electric box, extension cord, switch and receptacle. I plug the shop vac into the receptacle so I can easily turn the shop vac on when I turn the table saw on.

When I'm done, I Open both garage doors, turn on fans and clean the floor with a leaf blower. Then clean the drive off with the leaf blower.

My sinuses don't like sawdust, so I mask up too. My redneck air filters remove the fine sawdust in minutes.

Agree with Larry, I hate looking for tools. Organization is the key.
