Anybody have any experience with Ryobi One series power tools? Basically I need a cheap line of power tools for someone else to use. I found a drill and impact driver set for $99. In an emergency something I could use but at the same time if it goes missing no big deal. I originally was going to look at the Ridgid line but I liked the feel of them enough I might be to tempted to keep them for myself. I thought about looking at something from Harbor Freight but I can't order online. With Home Depot I can order online and have them shipped direct to them.

Have had the +one set going on 30 years now. Just bought a string trimmer, leaf blower and impact. Needed new batteries anyway. The new ones came with chargers and LI batteries. So much better than my old nicads. Never a any issues with any of the tools. Recip saw is a little unwieldy but works pretty well. The drill, impact and circular saw are great.

I've had Ryobi 18v tools for years. I've accumulated at least a dozen assorted.

I have yet to have one fail or wear out. The only casualty was a flashlight I inadvertently ran over with a lawn mower.

I've used Ryobi for many years.

Bought the first set way back when they were dark blue, still have the sawsall and free flashlight!

They are, my opinion, the upper end of consumer grade tools. What sold me was the promise of one battery fits all and will not change every few years. So far they have kept the promise.

The only problem I have had was a run of bad chargers. Got a couple replaced under warranty but got burned on a couple. Seems the problem has been corrected now.

Doesn't Home Depot sell Ridgid tools with lifetime in store warranty if you register the tool?
I don't care what brand of cordless tool you have sooner or later the batteries will need replaced. Getting a free replacement battery is a no brainer.
Pay a little more now, save later.

I agree if the tools were for myself but they're not. I'm buying them for someone else that will probably leave them laying outside after using them. They'll most likely get lost.

I would not buy a tool if I thought the person would not take care of them.

It's your money. Go to HF and get the cheapest if you have to buy them a cheapie tool.

I have had Ryobi plus-1 tools since they were blue and orange, The batteries were just ni-cads. The new batteries are Lithium and are much better as are the tools also, but the old tools are still working fine. I have the upgraded chargers and like the fact that the new chargers will charge the older batteries still performing. I would buy them again if needed as I am pleases with their service.

I have all Ryobi tools, the circler saw is not a ONE and runs the batteries down pretty fast. But I am not a professional builder, so I can stop and charge it. I have a impact driver that is also a 1/2 drill and screw driver. For the average home owner I don't think it can be beat for $99.

For something to do, I got a job in the tool corral at our local Home Despot some years ago. We had Ryobi, deWalt, Milwaukee and more. I started with a Ryobi drill, and have since bought a whole bundle of stuff. Especially as batteries failed. I have found that Ryobi is a pretty good tool for a farmer, Harry homeowner and surprisingly, most contractors. If you're Tim Allen and need a V-8 drill, the Ryobi ain't enough, but mine haven't crapped out yet. I do like the newer batteries more than the older ones. I did have one go bad, and Ryobi mailed a new out, no questions. But, the cost of the tool, and separate batteries is about half of the others, and do the same job. Even if they fall apart quicker than the competition, they're much cheaper and will likely outlast me.
