What size pulley do I need with a shaft of .625? I'm talking about the size of
hole-I think it's either 9/16 or 5/8 pulley.

Fractions Decimal Millimeters
39/64 .6094 15.478
5/8 .625 15.875

A pulley for what? A tractor? Which model if so? A GEN, starter, or ALT? FORD GENs (and others)used a METRIC Armature AND THUS THE PULLEY BORE OR THREAD WOULD BE METRIC AS WELL. 15mm (.551)was used til 1950 then with the larger units went to 17MM (.6693). Threaded ends and nuts would be those nominal sizes with the 1.25mm thread pitch. Why METRIC? Because bearings were only made in metric sizes then. I've worked on a few tractors where the owners boogered up the armature and/or nut by trying to chase threads with standard inch sizes. Somewhere I have a chart with pulley sizes but due to the current virus, CRS, would have to really think where it is...

5/8 is 5 divided by 8 which is .625. For the math challenged Harbor Freight sells a caliper for not much money that direct reads in fractions or decimals

You don't need Gaggle. Basic math, a knowledge of machining, and a calculator are all that is needed. For ANY fraction, to convert to decimal form, simply divide the numerator by the denominator. Example: 5/8 = 5 divided by 8 equals .625. Quick, easy, and a lot faster than trying to go online. Anyone who's worked in the machining field will already know what 5/8 is in decimal as well many other sizes. FWIW & FYI: METRIC conversion is easy as well. You only need to know that 1 (ONE) millimeter equals .03937 (INCH FORMAT). To convert a metric numeral into a decimal number, multiply .03937 by the nominal metric number. For example, 10mm = .03937 x 10 = .3937. Likewise, to convert inch format to a metric number, divide the inch numeral by .03937 to get the metric equivalent. For example, 1 in metric form is, 1 divided by .03937 equals 25.4. Thus 1 INCH equals 25.4 mm.
