knockoff ryobi batteries

Anyone tried the "for ryobi" 18v +1 batteries off fleabay? $15.99 for a 3.0AH Lithium Ion battery seems too good to be true..... Geo, your thoughts?

Tried a couple times.

One was misrepresented as real Ryobi, they were knock-offs. One worked a short while, other DOA.

The others were supposed to be new aftermarkets. They were used or had been returned because they
were no good.

Not recommending them from my experience.

Best to look for deals at HD. They run package deals, or buy a tool, get a couple free batteries.

I've only bought 20v 6 amp Dewalt
aftermarket batteries off Amazon and
happy with them. I like Amazon's free
return shipping. Never returned any
battery. Ebay returns my be on your
dime.

I have the following adapters.
I have 20v Dewalt to 18v Dewalt.
20v Dewalt to 18v Milwaukie.
20v Dewalt to 20v black and Decker.
20v Dewalt to 18v Makita.

Abapters are $20 each. Sometimes I can
only get adapters from Ebay and 3 to 4
weeks delivery.
If you already have another battery check
into adapter.
20v Dewalt batteries are 5 amp and cost
twice aftermarket 6 amp.

I've also made adapters you can but for
old cordless tools for a special YT
member.

I've had good luck with a couple of 5ma ones I bought from Amazon. But, they cost more than the price you quoted.

Haven't tried any from Ebay.

Not Ryobi, and not Ebay....but have bought some aftermarket Li-on batteries for 19.2 Craftsman and 12v Milwaukee off of Amazon.

No scientific measuring done, but the aftermarket batteries don't seem to have the capacity the OEM batteries have...a 5.0 AH aftermarket doesn't seem to last as long as a 5.0AH OEM. Haven't had an aftermarket battery totally die yet, had some of them 5 years or so. And I've got several batteries, I just swap them out when they discharge.

But considering they're usually less than half the price of OEM....

I've had nothing but bad luck with aftermarket Ryobi and Makita batteries. Either they don't work or they don't last very long. I stick with genuine Manufacturers batteries now.

My one Ryobi tool was garbage, but I've purchased a lot of other brand aftermarket batts. Most were as good as could be expected, but the last 2 I got aren't great. Still work okay, but not up to what I think they should be. OTOH- $27.00 for 2 batts is a lot less $$ than what Makita gets.
