FB post about screw drivers

The question was "how old were you when you found out about using a wrench to turn a screw driver, to remove stuck screws? The picture showed a box end wrench over the handle. I always used a wrench on the shank. I doubt that all handles will accommodate wrenches.

I didn't discover the hammer-powered impact driver until after I stripped out the Phillips heads on three screws working on my little Honda with a wrench on the handle of the big screwdriver. Never used the wrench-screwdriver combo again. One rap, and you don't have to look for a metric replacement screw either.

Same here. I think I got my first impact driver from the JC Whitney catalog back in the late 1960s or early 1970s. Also learned to "choke up" on any wrenches we used on early Japanese motorcycles.

Most SnapOn screwdriver have a hex on the shank just below the handle.

Nearly all my screwdriver handles have been chewed by Channel Locks, makes for a good grip when everything is greasy!

I have a square shank screwdriver I broke using a Crescent wrench on it. I had a particularly difficult screw to remove the other day, so I resharpened it and tried it again. It broke again!

Only decent Phillips screwdriver bits I have ever had were made by Apex. An aircraft mechanic said that is all they use. I won't buy anything else.

I had a 1964 Super Hawk. After I did a little engine tweaking I could get outrageous rpm's and never got beat by any other 305. That impact hammer also worked great to get heads off of V-4 Wisconsin's without snapping the studs.

Isnt it funny how Honda and hammer impact driver are used in the same sentence. I got my impact driver when I had a 175 Honda, or was it the 250? I have a few nut drivers that have chewed handles from gripping them with a pliers but when it comes to stuck straight or Phillips screws the impact driver comes out of the drawer.
