I gave my boy this hammer head. He just finished the handle. I can say his handle may last a lifetime. The original handle was very thin near head.

My boy gets excited buying antique tools Made in the USA.
Unusual hobby for a guy who has a desk job in charge of computer security for insurance company.

Not as unusual as you may think. I have a desk job in IT as well. I rehab and save old USA and Canadian made axes. Currently working on a Rixford double bit made in Canada between the 1880's and 1930 is the best I can find on this one.

I buy just about every double edged axes I can find. I have 3 of them and try to keep them sharp enough to skin a deer with. And ye I have in fact skinned a deer with one

My boy started out with antique axe heads. Even bought axe head from
Australia.
Is there some sort of IT club into Axes and hammers?

If look look to the right there is a motorized wet/dry sandstone I gave him.

He uses that to put an edge on an axe.

I like to watch Buckin Billy Ray on youtube. He is a heck of a timber man, sawman, axe man.He rebuilds axes also. He is canadian and worth watchin him. He is the real deal. Can split wood with an axe faster than a log splitter. He has a long life story to tell as well. The link below is his channel and you can pick what video you would like to see.

Buckingham Billy Ray is who my son watched and he got interested in making wood handles.

Im redoing a true temper kelly works double bit axe now. I have it cleaned up and ground and finished honed. It will shave the hair off of your arm. I just need to find a good handle for it. Im taking one back today that i dont like.

Brades is a famous Australian brand of axe , their Cockatoo model is exceptional, I have three of different weights and they are a joy to use . Axemen from Australia and New Zealand rank along with the best in the world , many of them use these vintage axe heads on new custom handles.
