You have asked about how I made out with my water softener drain field. Among the responses I received, running the discharge into a plastic drum seemed the most practical for me. I drilled holes into the bottom of a 30 gal. plastic drum, and surrounded it with coarse stone. No issues with grass, landscaping, or nearby trees.
 
Good deal. I don't know if you saw the other thread, but someone new here dredged up the original thread about this topic from 2012 and replied. That lead to a couple of other new replies from folks who didn't catch the OP date. Hopefully you had completed the project in the previous 9 years!
