Back on my generator problem. Disconnect utility power and nothing happens. Contacts do not change state in transfer switch. Lights on control board stay the same. If you manually start the generator and manually change the contactor in the transfer switch, the generator will run the load. I believe the generator is exercising ok. Why is the transfer switch not changing as soon as utility power is lost? I do have 12v from the generator to the control board. This system did work after we replaced a Generac system.

I have same 20KW setup, please keep posting so I can learn.

Does genset autostart on loss of util?

It sounds to me like the power is there for the ATS, but not the signal, there are 4 wires needed, 2 signal, 2 power. There should be lights flashing on the ATS motherboard to indicate connection.

I would check connections.

Post this question on the Kohler section of S...Stak. (old iron forum). You will get expert advice - lots of generator experts there. My guess is a switch is not in the "auto" position, or a fuse blown somewhere in the control circuit. Could be as simple as a faulty wiring connection - ATS is sending a start signal, but the generator is not receiving it. zuhnc
