this is way out there question but because i will have lots toy tractors also displayed in the area i am making basketball half court in new
house basement what do i put on the walls to take the abuse, right now its 2x6 studs inside of the concrete 14 ft walls

I second the OSB, but might jump to 1/2". Also look into plywood. Around here (SW Michigan), OSB price has lept a lot. Plywood, of the same thickness, was actually a couple dollars cheaper. Neither are very cheap anymore, but will be more durable than drywall for that enviroment.

You could put drywall, but especially up to the 7' level, occasional body slams will probably crack it. Plywood at the lower end. Drywall above ?

My friend created a basket ball court for his son & friends in a pole barn extension. Searching Facebook MarketPlace and Craigslist, he found a used score board, and a hoop that cranks up to the wall. Son is in his second year of college. Eventually, the room will become boat storgage.

Good luck !

I'd finish it in whatever you want for the after-basketball era. With only 14 foot ceiling, there is not enough height for regulation hoop play (top of average backboard is 13 feet up). So, lowered rims or no long shots.

Drywall is easy enough to repair/replace. Wood is great to hang shelves, but hard to make smooth and paint.

the hoop is at regulation height 10 ft and backboard is fine, no way big high balls but free throw shots are all fine, it will be fine for us
and it goes down to 7 feet for the younger ones.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds like a fun play place, but not really an indoor basketball arena. We tried rolling the portable backboard into the 16' sidewall pole barn, and even that limits real shotmaking.

One of my wife's friends built a new home with a concrete room under the basement. With two young boys they put up a hoop, but it worked better for racquetball or just general run around, ride trikes and bikes, etc space.Cold and damp and loud. But cooler than my basement, for sure!

it has worked fine for us so far,it gets us moving and the rest of the area is been fine for bikes .ping pong etc whole area is roughly 45x60
area heated floor. has complete kitchen area, bathroom shower and has area for wash dryer for later on. it is basically second house area
downstairs. elevator lift is in area between garage and house, storm shelter under one set of stairs. i picked the house up in 2016 and put
new basement under it started going back together then ran into health issues found out we were 12 times over formaldhyde levels was in new
floating floor and absorbed into other items all removed and now doing over the second time, ball court has become our stress relief area, and
grandkids play area. anybody wants some new upper kitchen cabinets that are still testing 6 times above formaldhyde levels
