Why do they call them that

A drag link is a component of a steering system, on cars, trucks and tractors. Remember the "chicken roost" on the old Case tractors, and others? The bar/rod sat on a ball on each end. The bar/rod had hollow ends, containing two discs, a spring and a threaded plug, the plug had a slot in it. the drag link socket fit in to the slot to adjust the clearance/tension, on the ball/steering joint. After adjustment, a cotter pin was installed in the slot and tube, to hold the adjustment.

I've got two or three of them. One was modified years ago to get the old screw-in freeze plugs out of MACK 675 C.I. engines. That was a high dollar tool to grind on , but those plugs could be tight.

svcummins,

Probably before your time, but drag links were adjustable. Hence the tool use and name.
Yep I got some,

Guido.

SV--I can't prove this and it might be fake news but I heard guys that use them have to be dressed in DRAG---Tee

These are really common on all the old tractors. Even my 560 and 660 have them. And I used that tool on them.

Think I might have one of those. Thot it was just a screwdriver socket for big screws.
