Menards Master Force drill replacement

I don't remember what went wrong with the first one, but when I took it back, it was a used drill. They did not have that model anymore and so they gave me a 1/2" hammer drill. Variable speed and reversible. After having it over 6 years the thrust bearing must have gone bad. You could push in on the chuck and you could feel it catch and then release. Last night I took it back to Menards and they gave me another new drill. It is nice to know that they stand behind their product.

I also bought some 5 pocket jeans for $11 each. I hope I like they.

Did you have a receipt from when you bought it? I have one of their 4 inch grinders that I bought several years ago with spun gears.

Menards has a duplicate receipt printer in the store, I don't know how far back it goes but you can print a new receipt for previous purchases, as long as it was bought with a card.

No, I did not have the receipt.I did have the manual with the date of purchase, but I don't think he cared about that at all. I am sure it comes down to the people handling the return. This guy went up to customer service counter and told them to charge it out to the model number of the new drill. And that was all there was to it.

Unfortunately, the new drill is slimmer in its design and longer, with the chuck and gears being the heaviest part of the drill. It feels like a drill that when used to drill horizontal holes, that you will need to hold it with both hands.

Usually, the first thing to go on lesser-priced electrical tools are the bearings. It's nice to know they stand behind their tools.
As for the jeans, some of the best work jeans I've ever purchased were their "Old Mill" denim jeans. They were made in Mexico, could be purchased for $9.99 (on sale), had good zippers and thick denim. Sadly, they discontinued those jeans. I have not purchased any of their replacements. What country builds their new blue jeans?

I get disgusted going to Menards a lot, but I have had good luck with their power tools. Several years ago, I had a 3/8 electric drill that was several years old and had been used a lot. The switch quit working, so I took it in to the service counter and asked if they could order me a new switch. The guy looked at it and said that they hadn't had the model for several years, he gave me a new one free.
