A cellphone camera is a tool

I have a tv as a computer monitor. I have to turn the monitor on every morning. But when i push the power button it seems to take for ever to turn on. I never did really figure out the combination till now. I tried pushing the button harder and longer and finally it would come on. So i remembered and old trick i learned long time ago. The remote emits a light not seen by the human eye. But if you use a cellphone camera to view the light emitted by the remote you can view it. Well long story short all the buttons would emit light but not the power button. I took the remote apart and cleaned all the contacts under the rubber push buttons with alcohol. It works way better now.

I need to try that, our TV will not come on with the remote, hasn t for years. I just power up on the
switch,off works fine.

It works for locating hiden cameras also.
If you have the right phone you can use it to do x-rays. Yes I have one and Yes it works.

So checking remotes with the camera is useful but sadly the iPhone has a really good ir filter and they dont show up. Most androids will still show it.

I know that the power button is now working to turn my monitor on. It wasnt before as it was intermittent.
