GPI Fuel Pump - How to fix?

I bought the smallest, cheapest electric fuel pump four years ago. GPI 8. I use it for diesel. It won't run now. For awhile it was kinda intermittent. I'd have to wiggle the clamps to the battery OR flip the switch on and off.
I suspect an electrical problem? How can I check it out?

with it away from fuel, and disconnected from power, use an ohm meter on the input leads wiggle everything, switch and terminals. If shows infinite ohms all the time and never shows any resistance, the motor needs to be taken apart. If the brushes are worn, you might find a pair you can shape to use. Google carbon brushes. As I recall they're very simple. I had one act like that, and found the permanent magnet field pieces had come un bonded from the housing. I cleaned the housing with a hone. I had a couple of wood pieces made to fit/wedge in between the fields. I very carefully measured, primed, and glued the field pieces back in. It didn't run long enough to say so. Same basic motor on a chemical pump has been trouble free! There was corrosion/oxidation in the one that failed. I think there was an issue with it right from the start.
