New (to me) item in the spoon shop

The little bandsaw was ok,,for some cutting,,but not real good for milling lumber pieces from the firewood logs

Im gonna keep it with a fine cut blade for small work

Today,,my nephew surprised me,,and dropped off this bigger craftsman 12 inch saw

The little saw had three wheels,,and was hard on blades snapping

The saw he brought me today,,I Put a more aggressive cutting blade onto it

The throat is much taller,,so I Can rip off wider stock from the log pieces

I tried it out today,,and was pleasantly surprised

My better half bought me one of those Craftsman 12" saw/sanders for Christmas over 20 years ago. Still works great. But it's too light for heavy re-sawing- use the 14" H.D. Laguna for bigger jobs.
 
There are certainly larger/better saws but those Craftsman saws aren't bad. With different blades you can do a lot with one.
 
I have one just like it. Has served me well. Only thing I’ve replaced are blades. Bought it new in 1985. Took it home put it together in my heated basement. Used it there for a while. Moved it it the unseated garage. 8 years later moved it across the state to storage. Then to my farm in an unheated shop. Now it’s been in a new heated shop for over 20 years and will remain their until I’m too worn out to use it.
 
Yes, you are correct! I was thinking 82 but I googled it and 80 inch blade pops up many times. I bought an assortment pack at Sears once for a very good price. The previous owners used it mostly for cutting aluminum, worked well for that too.
