Been a couple of discussions about trail cameras recently so thought I would try to add some pictures of what I get with mine.
It is a Garde Pro I got from the amazon

Do they make a trail camera that can email me the pictures it takes ? Was wanting to use one for surveillance where there is no power but if someone steals the camera doesn’t do me much good

We set up two cameras. One for watching the place the other watching the camera out in the open. We had the one took by the guy next door because he didn't like it there. My boy looked at the other one and got pictures made up at wal mart and went over and ask him for the camera witch he said he didn't have it or took it and told him to get the heck out of there. My boy ask him one more time and said if you don't give it to me I'm going to get the cops. He really thew a fit swearing at him and tell him to leave so my boy told him ok I'm leaveing but you might want these pictures. Boy did he change his way and then remember that he took it thinking he was on his land witch he wasnt. It also showed me who was going in and out of my shop and taken tools witch I showed my older brother them and then he brought them back saying that his friend need to bourow them and he was mad because I have cameras. You now day have to do that to keep your stuff plus now I also lock every thing up. The only other thing that will work is a good watch dog that I had one.

Yes, all of the name brand cameras make cellular cameras. They send them to your phone, not email. Of course it takes a special service contract with a cell carrier, usually Verizon or ATT. They have different contract levels, from 5 dollars per month to 15, depending on how many pics you want to send to your phone.

I have three cameras in security cages and chained. Since I put up those cameras my theft and trespassing rate has dropped dramatically.

You can also buy cheap cameras as decoys as mentioned earlier. I love my trail cameras.

Great shot! Any comments on battery life? Had several different brands of cameras, and after the novelty wears off, it seems like I put a lot of batteries in for little reason. Thinking about wiring up a 12 volt car battery on one camera with (8) AAs.

Lithium batteries are the only way to go. I buy one set per camera each fall and they last until spring. Even in sub zero temps.

Be careful with 12 volts. A camera I have will work with either 4 or 8 AAs. The first 4 are in parallel with the second 4 for longer life. So it really runs on 6 volts.

You are right Ralph. Used the multimeter to test the battery box on the camera last night. 6 volts. I’ve got an old 6 volt battery, so I might try that.

My neighbor whose property is bordered on both the East and West, sets up 3 game cams every year during mid-summer. He has pictures of the bucks as their antlers develop. He has pics of 4 or 5 really nice bucks (8 or more points) plus two six pointers and a 4 pointer. As far as we know, no one shot any of them this year although a gigantic 8 pointer was shot on my property just West of him. That big buck never showed up on his camera at all. This nice one survived both last year and this. The 3 point rule has been in effect for a few years in my area and has increased the number of big bucks tremendously.

Deer hunting regulations were amended
to limit harvest of antlered deer in WMUs
3C, 3H, 3J, and 3K to deer with at least one antler with three or more points which are at least one inch
long, including brow tines.
