Northern tool

I get a few things there. Store near me is a couple blocks from Harbor Freight, I would say generally their stuff is HF quality or a bit better in most cases. They have not been real competitive on price and don't have some catalog stuff on hand as often, so I always call ahead before an hour drive. But certainly worth a stop. People in this store are always helpful and friendly FWIW.

I haven't been to one of their stores but I have ordered from their catalog. It's been a while because usually they are more expensive than anyone else. Sometimes they do have something I can't find anywhere else.

I buy a few things, they have a good selection of casters, wheels, no flat wheels, etc.

They have a good selection of light trailer parts, vehicle harnesses and plugs, bearings, hubs.

Individual tools, sockets, end wrenches, where most other places want to sell sets.

But I find their prices are a little high, and you they are a bit deceptive about their stock, common to get there and find out it's not stocked, order only, but while you're here...

The helpful employee thing must be up to the individual management. The employees at the store I use are far from friendly and helpful.

Yes.

Been satisfied with just about everything except clothing items which simply do not hold up.

Yes sir. I have even been in their store a few times. Kow Farmer Kurt. 🐂👩‍🌾

It's my go to place for hardware and tool stuff. Recently bought two no flat front tires for my lawn mower.
Little pricier that Harbor Freight but not as crowded with other shoppers.

They have a lot of nice tools at a good price , I do know not all china tools are created equal

Yes two stores close both about 30 miles from me. Like HF they send out coupons : )... Unlike HF they carry some top of the line tools and such... I would pass up a HF store to get to a Northern tool store.. If you buy from Northern use a credit card they make it a P.I.T.A. to look up cash transactions...

I will only be buying with a credit card because they don’t
have a store within a thousand miles from me unfortunately

(quoted from post at 14:39:17 01/08/21) Anybody buy from northern tool?

Since you don't have a store nearby and will be paying shipping anyway figure out what you want and GOOGLE it and find another more reasonable source.

As a couple other posters wrote they are NOT typically the most reasonable place to buy a specific item.

have done alot with them online only, free freight most time and usually couple days or less get item. just got two more of the quick fold table, really have been handy, get alot stuff from zoro.com also

I used to buy a bit of stuff from them when they were Northern Hydraulics. Since then I've only bought stuff I can't find anywhere else. Usually I can find what I want on Ebay or someplace else for less $$$.

Agreed, SV.

After buying a thing or two, you will begin to get email messages with specials, sale items, close outs, etc. Indeed, eventually, you will be getting too many of these.

I almost never buy anything at retail price but if one is patient, one will find the desired item on sale.

I am like you , I think overall there stuff is just somewhat better grade than HF but also higher priced. I use them both depending on what I need.

Yes,I frequently buy from Northern. Been well satisfied. Also belong to their 'Prefered' club.At 35 dollars a year,I get free shipping on everything, plus huge discounts and cupons. I just last week bought a 16" electric chain saw from them. 50 bucks.

Same here, I have one within walking distance of my work, quality tools and hardware at reasonable prices. If you have a question they usually have the correct answer.

Their closet store is at Fredericksburg VA about 50 miles from me,have bought a good amount of tools from them and did buy a 30 ton wood splitter with a Honda motor. Its been a great machine for me.

I ordered from them when it was northern hyd. And thay was before al gore invented the internet. I noticed they have opened a store on the northeast of indy. I tried to get the wife to stop in with no luck.( she drug me into idea tho)

Ya I figure I’ll join the club too they have a couple things I want that I can’t get anywhere else

You probably know this, but do a Google search for Northern Tool coupon before you order.

Usually get enough off to cover shipping.

The Northern Tool near me is as close as Harbor Freight I used to go to in Dallas but it's in a direction that would be about 5 miles out of my way so I rarely go. Recently they put a Harbor Freight in my town so unless I'm working in Dallas and need something I go to that one.

If you are familiar with Walmart and Target.......

Harbor Freight = Walmart.

Northern Tool = Target.

A tad bit more upscale, but pretty much very similar import items.

HF is closer to me now, I have enjoyed rummaging in a NT also but they are over 100 miles away.

Attached is a link to one available now.

I'm looking at a hydraulic top link for a 5000 Ford, the coupon about covers shipping.

Because I'm frugal ( some might say cheap) I check for coupons a lot before ordering something online. Doesn't take but a minute, and hey, it's a few bucks.
