My camera captured a ghost

Don't ask me how this occurred , taking a photo of the coast just near home this ghost bike appeared .
I've cropped and enlarged it to show how peculiar it is . There are bikes in the background, there were none in front of me .
It is an area where many accidents happen .

Taken on a Samsung android phone , no funny business involved I swear.

(quoted from post at 06:03:46 09/28/20) Well, I'll be dipped in muck & covered in breadcrumbs! Looks like you might have captured one. Neat! Would be interesting to see the whole picture.
Was it under 5MB?

That's a fascinating image Charles; and I don't have an explanation either. You see more and more of this type thing on TV now that cell phone cameras are in such wide use.

Somewhere I have saved a picture taken at the funeral of a Marine Gunnery Sergeant who was killed in Iraq. The picture is taken down the aisle, looking at the altar with the casket parked in front of it.

There's an apparition of a Marine in full battle gear standing beside the casket. I think there's a lot going on "out there" that we don't know about. And probably shouldn't.

Did you take the picture while inside you car though the window? Could be a reflection of the bikes behind you.

No idea what you got there.

At first glance it does look like a bicycle but to me the more I look at it things are too out of proportion for it to be a bicycle.

-height of wheels
-diameter of tires
-wheels too close to each other
-if the wheel on the left is the front the forks look awful heavy
-can't really make out any seat or handlebars

There's a show called Ridiculousness on MTV that plays videos that they find on the internet. They've had a category that just shows
people, cars, animals, you name it, just appearing out of no where or disappearing. They just make you say "What the....?".

I bet your phone decided to take an HDR photo due to low light. In that mode it takes a long exposure picture a medium exposure picture and a short exposure picture then magically adds them together to make a more lit picture. I bet it stitched in that cyclist as part of the magic as he was going by.

A possible explanation dsebens , though I would swear before the Almighty there were no cyclists near me or any that had passed me . The road is not busy , it is a service lane to the highway below that hugs the cliff above the beach , it is down there that many terrible fatalities have happened , drivers distracted by the view I suspect . The bicycles visible in the background were the first to pass me .
My Whippet is quite friendly but has a great respect and wariness of bikes and cars , if one had passed he would have pulled me away quick smart .
