Spark plug sizes.....too many different ones

All,

I used to have a single spark plug socket, 13/16 if memory serves. Then came the 14mm (?), perhaps. Well today I found another spark plug that I own and it takes a 18mm deep well 6 point. There is little room for the socket. The crazy Subaru had a very narrow plug, but I cannot recall the size. That Subaru flat four was a bugger to get plugs in/out.

How many other sockets must I have at hand to extract spark plugs?!

Rant kinda over for now, but I am sure I am good for more.

Many lawn mower engines used a 3/4 inch socket and there is also the 5/8 spark plug socket and IH used a 7/8 inch socket on many of there tractor engines

I was in a similar situation. I finally bought a strip of deep-well padded spark plug sockets from Amazon that has all the different sizes.

I have no idea how big the socket would need to be to take out the plugs on my 1935 JD B but I don't think 15/16 would be big enough

This one takes a 15/16 socket

I have a 15/16" and a 1", both turned down on the outside to remove the plugs on Minnie-Mo U,G, and GVl models. Sometimes it's a surprise, and two heads on the same tractor take two different plugs. Does keep life interesting. unc

i really dont care what size socket i need as long as i dont have to remove the cab to change plugs, or remove fenders or stand on my head. old tractor are simple.
