Hard starting Husqvarna chainsaw

I've got a 440 and for awhile I was buying that canned pre-mixed fuel (Husqvarna brand) and had trouble with it the whole time I was using it. As soon as I switched back to pump gas (non-oxy) and mixed it myself the thing has performed perfect.

Took me awhile to figure it out.

At former job we had I believe a 445 rancher, found it started a whole lot easier hot if after you shut it off you tipped the fuel cap to top and loosened the cap relieving any pressure created by heat expansion of fuel mix.

Had a husqvarna chainsaw, forget which number, would run like a champ for 30 minutes then die and not restart until the next day. Went to my stihl dealer and bought a stihl with 18 in. bar and have been happy ever since. Took husqvarna to our local small engine repair guy and told him i did'nt want it back and did'nt care what he did with it!!

Yes, it might be the coil. Use a spark tester to test for spark immediately after it quits or fails to start when hot.

Husqvarna consumer products aren't worth pitching in the garbage now days.

You either get one that runs good or one that will hit a wall and become more trouble than it's worth trying to keep it running. No one can fix it.

Such things as "auto tune" and "smart start fuel pump" are just gimmicks to boost sales on a product that is not worth a 1/4 of the asking price.

You can change the plug, coil, fuel lines, filter and even the carb. And all you will end up with is a thinner wallet and a saw that you wasted money on. For they can't be fixed.

Get rid of it and get an Echo..

Brutal??

YES..

But the facts are the facts.

Probably not the coil. It's most likely your fuel system, an air leak, a bit of gunk in the carb, filter, fuel hose, etc. Or it could just be that it's a consumer grade saw that is not at all what the once fine Husqvarna name represented.

Hey Mule Meat, I would love to be able to convert my opinions or better yet my conspiracy theories into facts. How do you do it?

If you check for spark when it is hot, you will be able to tell. No spark when hot means bad ignition.

But if it was on my bench, I would put a compression gauge on it and pull the rope until it quits going up. If it can´t do 135 psi. don´t mess with it compression is too low.

I have an Echo arborist saw that I paid 0ver 400 dollars for. I used it once, and it spent more time in the shop, than it is worth.
It was the biggest mistake I made. The shop person said the saw was abused! I cut a damn sapling. Before I even started it. I
cheked oil, plug, and premium fuel mix. Biggest piece of sh_t I ever wasted money on. I guess it all depends on what you end up
with. Love my Husky and Stihl.

I bought a brand new Husky from Lowes. It never hit a lick. I took it back and Lowes service guy said I was flooding it. Never smelled any gas. I said okay, you give it a try. Three guys cranked on it for an hour. changed every setting available Never hit a lick. They gave me a full refund and went down the street to ACE. and bought a Stihl with easy start. Fires first time every time for the last 8 years. Will not waste my time on anything but a Stihl
