Reversing Rotation Makita Sharpener

The diagram is for a Makita Electric Sharpener, model 9820-2, 115 AC, 1.1A, 560 RPM. The motor rotates clockwise. Is this motor reversible? If yes, what would I need to do. More specifically what type of switch would I need, and how to wire it?. Thanks in advance.

I cannot answer your question as to whether the motor is a capacitor start, or capacitor start / run. I have included photo's of the capacitor and motor. The Makita part number for the capacitor is 645139-8. I was unable to find any specifications for the capacitor.

If it has permanent magnets inside, probably not. If it has wound field plles and brushes, the brushes might be able to be reversed in their connections internally. if no brushes, not likely to be able to change direction. Jim

Jim, it clearly has field windings (so NOT a permanent magnet motor) and doesn't appear to have "brushes".

It MAY be a "PSC" motor, if so, moving the white wire connected to the capacitor from the capacitor terminal with the blue wire over to the terminal with the red wire will reverse it.

To the O.P., proceed at your own risk if you try this!
