Almost got rain

Yesterday evening it clouded up and looked like rain was coming. I checked the weather guesser on my
cell phone and there was a line of heavy rain coming straight at us. Lightning was 2 miles away so I
and the wife sat on the front porch to watch it. We got a few drops on the sidewalk and nothing more.
All the rain must have thought we didn't need any since it's so dry now the ground is cracked bad.
The temp. yesterday was 104 f. and that is about the norm for this heat spell we're in. Second
cutting of hay is nonexistent, can still see the tracks where we drove in the hay field to square
bale a month ago. The only thing that's growing is Iron Weed in the first field I baled and it's
growing great, only thing is nothing will eat it that I know of. I hate to spray it because there is
usually a great stand of clover in that field and I don't want to kill it. Anybody know if I can get
rid of it by mowing it with a rotary mower and letting it lay' ain't worth bsling.

I must have thought I was in tractor talk, sorry I posted on tool talk. But thern again I figure most of us check tool talk too. Keith

We've been having the same luck for the past six weeks. We finally got lucky yesterday morning. It came in quick and hard and the wife said "It's finally raining". I said "Ya, now if it keeps up for more than 30 seconds". Well it kept up for about 45 seconds and quit. About five minutes later it cut loose and rained for about an hour. We got an inch. We could use six more.

Hopefully it's coming our way then. Used to be that if you got rain, we'd get it either the next day or second day. Now it seems like there is a wall just over the hill from me. I could see the lightning and hear the thunder but no rain.

I came in just a couple minutes ago from checking eggs and checked the rain gauge and we got another 3/4 of an inch. So in the last 24 hour we have ad 1.5 inches of rain which is both good and bad. I have hay down and in windrows but due to a break down yesterday I could not get it baled up plus the round bales I did get baled well there still out in the field so they got rained on
