At work they bought a large carport that we use as a shelter for our LP filling station. They bought it on the net and had a local guy put it up. The problem is the massive leak when it rains from the west(it always rains from the west). The tin is overlapped a good two feet but it is lapped the wrong way, anyone have an easy way to seal the joint? We really do not care about looks and they are never going to let me take it apart to caulk the overlap. Miracle tape? roofing dope?

3M Weather Strip Adhesive. Get the black stuff in the large tube, not the greenish in the small tube.

Don't ask if you can take it apart to fix the leak, just do it. Sealing that wrong way lap will be a temporary solution and not a good one for temporary even. Make the lap the right way and never touch it again.

As you know, the right way is to lap it the right way. Having said that, I use a product called "Through the Roof" that is amazing for roof repair. It can be bought in a tube, or container and applied with a putty knife or brush. It is clear, and does a SUPER job of seal anything, even leaking gutter joints. My two cents.
