I posted this in Tractor Talk. It has not been identified yet. Maybe someone on here will know what it is.

What is on the ends of the arms, are they loops? It strikes me as something related to livestock, designed to hold something spread apart. Too small for use with horses or cows, but maybe some kind of speculum for sheep or goats? I know nothing about sheep shearing, but maybe related to that?

One interesting feature is that it is near its smallest adjustment. were it to be used to spread a surgical opening, it would need to be a massive opening, not likely. Jim

Hmm....apparently I just [i:70939f0d93]thought[/i:70939f0d93] I replied to this yesterday.

To me, it looks like it could have been used to control water flow, such as at a dam or for the overflow of some pond/lake.

I looked up what I think is a number C1021. But nothing came up.If you can get me close ups. Of any numbers or letters or names. I will see what I can find. This heat keeps me in the house. So I have plenty of time. Where was this item found. Repair shop farm anything you can tell me would help.

I thought it could have been to hold open grain bags if it had a hoop. Similar to this patent image. But I may be way off.

I do not have the item sir. There is someone who is selling it. I think it is old and cool. I was wanting to know what it was first. I may just go ahead and buy it and then check it out better.

sms may have something. I remember as a kid playing around. The cotton gins. They had one section where they would bag up. The cotton seed hauls for the local farmers. Best I recall they had something like that. I think that item may be part of that. But just a guess.

Something tells me, you are on the right track.
This would go on her back forward of the pin bones.

I was on all the wrong tracks, but I think you are going to be the winner.
