Vinyl Glue

Not sure this is right forum - but I need to repair the toe plate of a 50+ yr old Kenmore trash compactor. Toe plate is 3/32 vinyl - currently only held at the 3 little places indicated. Any suggestions on the best glue? Im also thinking to sister something across the tear to reinforce that glue line - any suggestions there? Of course if anyone has a spare part . . . it 665.8406 777276 :) TIA

there's some molding/shapes i couldnt replicate - but its an aidea - I could perhaps just replace the flatter piece. Thanks.
 
Try using Gorilla tape on each side. First one side and cut out the openings then the other side. I just repaired a disc
mower cover the same way with no issues.
 
Used to do floor covering whenever we have vinyl base to put on
weird angles we would use contact cement worked good
 
Many Thanks all . . . good ideas - I've no experience w/ gorilla tape but that could certainly be a good sister support mechanism to the contact cement glue line. That will be plan A (repair existing) . . . the vinyl base coving will be plan B (replacement). Angus
 
yes. It just is near impossible to fix vinyl with glue. If successful, the patch is ridged and easily fails. Jim
 
Bout the best you can do is cut out something to back that up with (vinyl flooring?) and glue it to the original piece.

Contact cement should work, along with general purpose flooring adhesive. Clean both surfaces well. Apply glue to
100% of the surface. Clamp between two boards to wet out the adhesive and hold the composite flat.

Crack will still be present, but less visible.
 
I agree with Duner Wi.... Shoe-Goo... Good stuff.. Put a good bead on the vinyl; both sides -let cure,
it will be good to go for a long time. Great glue for other things too..
