DING, DING, DING !! We have a winner. You must be a scythe owner. Below is a picture showing peening of a scythe blade. The sharp edge rides against the middle post on the jig while you hit the top of the post thus peening the edge.

When you renew a scythe blade, you do not remove material like sharpening a knife with a stone. Those two jigs actually reform the edge of the blade to a razor sharpness. First you use the tool with the single band to start the process then you proceed to the tool with two bands on it. On that tool you can see the machined ring on it. This is on a slight angle that reforms your edge.

A scythe is a great thing to have when you have some tall weeds pop up and you don't want to drag out a string trimmer.
