I have a Snapper rear engine mower that locked up in drivetrain. It must be a old one because the drivetrain is much different than I find on internet u tube etc. It does have the friction disk to transfer power but from there on is different. Anyone have any info on this. Model # is 184404. Snapper web page that has manuals says can't find that #. Anyone have any info on this mower?

Yea, I did too. I thought just maybe someone on here might know about old snappers and have some info to share.

Any chance you can post a pic of your Snapper, or provide more info?

We were a Snapper dealer in the 60's, 70's & early 80's. ....I worked on many riders of those years. ....I don't recognize the model number you posted, so I'm guessing it is from a later year.

Here is photos of parts along with data plate that should help identify the mower.

I took it apart and what locked up the drivetrain was the chain came off. It is wore out, stretched out. Also the pinion gear that drives the hub is wore bad. I need a part# for those. If I had a service manual to see how to put this back together it sure would save a lot of head scratching.

I had to enlarge the pic of the nameplate, but it appears you have a model 306R Snapper riding mower. ....The #184404 would be the serial number.

This model was built somewhere around 1963-1965(?)

I never worked on one of these, but I will look to see if I have a manual.
