forney welder help

I just wasted an hour, here at the puter. I was trying to find welding cable terminals, to fit in the holes on an old Forney b225 stick welder. I guess I just don't know the right words, to call them. What is the right thing to call, the brass ends, that you put on the end of a welding cable, and plug into the machine face? I bought the old welder, with no cables, and all the cable holes, were filled with dried mud, from bees. what a job, trying to clean out those holes!

Not an F225. ??

I have found that there are several different sizes of tapers. My old Forney could be that F225's father or grandfather. Mine is 1950sh and works very well. I did have to replace the capacitor in it a few years ago.

Those certainly look like what I need! I read the description, provided, and it failed to state the OD of the shank, but did say tapered. Mine look to be 3/8" or maybe 7/16" ID. I may order a couple to try out. Thanks a bunch!

Be careful I think the Miller "pins" are to large. My cables were shot but ended up using the ends for measuring. Friend turned them down from brass bolt and drilled tapped hole for an "eye to connect the new cable. Might be wrong but was in the same boat with my old Forney welder. Good luck. regards, John.

I just came back from the tractor shed, and checked the welder. It looks almost the same as the one pictured, but has two more plug holes on the left top face which say pos and neg. Also has a amp guage on the top face. It says F225B combination unit, and has a battery charger. Phisically it looks like the one pictured, except the 2 more plug holes, and the guage. I did notice that I was wrong in the hole size, I mentioned earlier. The ID on the holes is about the size of a wood pencil, or may be a ciggerett.

No I haven't! Being as this is Sunday, I will have to wait till a week day to do that. I did see a e mail for Forney, some where in Colorado, on a Forney site!

That used to be a nice perc for me, when I was still unretired, as a Boeing maintence mechanic. I could go to tooling, and get lathe work done for me, using a MSS number, from one of my overhead cranes. Most of our local machine shops, have closed, and retired . Now have to drive to Tacoma, or Seattle, to find one.

Not sure of exactly which plug you need, but Forney's website lists several styles. Link has 2 pages of various accessories--it appears they might call their plugs "sure grip", which might give you another search term if these aren't what you're looking for.

For $10 (includes postage), you can have these. After I gave away my stick welder, they are left over and I'll never use them.

I'm keeping the cables and stinger and ground clamp. I can put the stinger on my TIG machine for the once in a blue moon time that I might want burn some rod and the ground is a spare for the TIG or my MIG machine.

WE have them in stock,I can t imagine another welding supply store not having them.

504 where are you located? and what did you mean by (we have them in stock) Do you work for a welding shop? I am in Roy Wa. and I don't think Pacific welding, in Lacey carries them. I haven't asked them, but it seems I did look there about 3 yr's ago. for an antique Forney I still have.

What I did was Highlighted your text, (welding cable terminals) and selected search google it, and lots of them popped up. If nothing else, it confirms your description.

Yes, insert twist about a 1/4 turn and your ready, I learned to weld with an older Forney. High and low ground cable. Worked as good or better than any AC stick welder I have ever used.
