I was on here a week or two ago asking about which washing machine to buy. Many of you said --get the Speed Queen. Well I got the SQ, the commercial model,,really like it. Thanks fellas..........len in michigan

We've had ours for about 5 years now. 2 to 3 loads per week, and one of those loads is 2 to 3 pairs of bib overalls. The Speed Queen is holding up just fine.

That's my plan when the time comes.

Wife want's a front load because she's so short.

I tell her she should have eaten her vegetables, it ain't gonna happen!

Build her a step stool.

She should have picked taller parents .
Mrs B&D is 6'1" so I have to look up to her, particularly when she wears heels.

Only top load Speed Queens available here and really expensive as well , the dearest of all machines on the market .
There are still one or two Australian brands but they have moved offshore for production ,most of ours are either of German , Italian or Asian manufacture so it's good to know that the Speed Queen at least lasts the distance .

I have used front loaders all across Europe more months at a time when trekking , they don't seem to have top loaders there . Without an exception they are the most complicated pains in the A of any device I have ever used . Heaven help you if you forget a sock and want to include it in a wash that's started , it's not going to happen . Then you have to wait the two hours for the shortest cycle to finish and hand wash the odd sock .

The controls are diabolical , symbols it would take an Egyptologist to decipher and even then it really is pot luck with the dial selection .

They do use less water and are supposed to be gentler on clothes so here in Australia they were promoted as the ' Best for Australian drought conditions ' but you almost never see a top load machine on the side of the road at recycling time . This year when the council collects old appliances for recycling I must have counted fifteen or twenty near new ones in my immediate neighbourhood . They look good and promise a lot but are so hard to live with and unreliable that most women go back to top loaders as soon as they can .

Wife and I bought a Speed Queen about a year ago and this is my comment:1. it is whinier than the old Maytag, 2. it has taken most of year to quite stinking like some kind of machine shop oils, 3. it cost a lot and, 4. I feel so good that it was made in the USA, that I have popped several buttons. lol

Repair place advise this brand, so far not that impressed for the price. It is a top loader, something we are used to.

I'm 10 years into an American made $400 Roper that does an average of a load a day. Next one if this thing dies will be another Roper.

My BIL bought my SIL some kind of top loader (samsung, I think) with no agitator in it!! I just kind of swishes the clothes around, but that's about it....... BUT, you can run it with your phone and he really
gets off on that!! Who feels the need to run your washer with your phone??? Like Charles says its the most complicated thing ever, and takes an eternity to wash clothes and that's just marginal because neither
one of them ever get their clothes like tractor repair dirty. She absolutely hates the thing.
They gave us their old Kenmore 80 Series top loader and dryer. The washer had the transmission or some such thing out of it which I repaired. They just keep on truckin away and I wouldn't trade them for any
fancy new washer.
