Unidentified jack

Good evening: I have a small bottle shaped jack, possibly from a car I once owned, but I don't really know what it is from or for.

All suggestions welcome as to what vehicle it may have come from. It uses a crank handle, similar to another bottle shaped screw jack I have. By the way, this current item pictured is less than 8 inches tall as shown, base is about 6 x 8 inches. It does have numbers on the yellow sticker/decal; 02MR79 and 14016967. Says label printed in Canada. Any help or comments welcome.

A quick google on the label number says it's correct for a 79-81 firebird or trans am, and similar ones came with many GM products. The 02MR79 is probably a date code, which would fit with the above into.

get a flat tire and you will sure know what is for. comes with new vehicle from factory .

My Fil ran a truck repair business and serviced the Town School Busses he gave me one of those and said they came with the busses, some times there were more than one.

Good morning: I should have said "I don't know WHAT VEHICLE it is for". The hook starts about three inches from the ground, goes up to about twelve inches. The top part may be intended as a lift pad, it is about four inches higher than the hook. I can't picture any vehicle I have had where this would be a useful jack. Somebody reading this will know what vehicle it is/was used for. BTW, the sticker says "printed in Canada", does this mean the jack was made in Canada?

On my van if you had a flat tire the control arm would be so close to the ground you wouldn't be able to get any other jack under it. The hook on the side of that jack would then be very handy.

Yes, mine is from a Ford van. Can use the top part under the axle. I think someone replied to this post that it was for BMW? A german engineer would look at that and laugh at the suggestion that another German engineer came up with it. They are into form and function. Has to look cool. If anyone remembers the old jack from the VW bug, it folded up into a bit of nothing. Yes, the car often slid off the jack unless about a hundred things went just right, but it was a compact little thing that took up almost no space and it was a marvel of ingenuity. Hopefully not too many people got hurt using it.

Good evening: Steven, I think you have explained what vehicle this jack came from. I owned a very-used Chevy Astro Van for a while, possibly had an extra jack after some junk-yard buying/trading expeditions. I will say this thread is done. Thanks!
